Twister 3 vs Seba 2 Low

Postby dgrubers on Thu Aug 21, 2008 10:01 pm

Thoughts? Anyone here have the twister 3's and can offer an opinion on them vs the lows or the Twister II's?

i have k2 soul 7s and they work fine for me. they've been out of production for a couple years now but you can still find them on zappos.com super cheap. i guess that company bought the closeout. or if you want to wait a couple of months k2 is releasing some similar skates again. whether they are going to be better or worse than the twisters i couldn't tell you as i've never worn twisters. personally i would never buy twisters as i would never buy anything with a composite frame, but that's just me.

i was considering buying a pair of sebas myself here soon, but after taking a look at zappos i think i'll spend that money on 4 pair of soul 7s instead.

Just in case future googlers stumble in here and get confused, the Twister III frame is aluminum, not composite.

I have both, the twisters did NOT hold up well. My FR1's (Seba Freerides) are awesome skates, there is no comparison in quality.
you plan to fail when you fail to skate

I took into account what you said about the Soul 7's and ordered a pair...couldn't pass up getting some for $120 with free shipping. Cheaper than Twisters and I don't need to worry about the top strap constantly busting. Schwing!

well i'm not going to tell you they're the greatest thing in the world as i haven't personally tried out all the other options, but i'll agree that the price is right. and they work fine. i get some pain around the ball of my foot for the first 20-30 minutes i wear mine, but then again i get about the same pain for about the same time period in my speed skates so i'm going to go out on a limb and say that's just me. other than that i have no complaints. they're supportive, they do not and never did give me blisters even with the last 2 weekends each representing 15+ hours on skates over a 2 day period, i can crank them on tight enough despite what in my view are relatively thin ankles, and on top of that they're relatively disposable given the price if you end up not liking them or if they come apart at the seams in a year.

one thing you may end up needing to do is email k2 and have them send you an axle. the skates have custom axles and when i ordered them there was no spare in the box to allow you to remove the brake. i *presume* that was accidental, but i dont know. k2 is pretty easy to deal with and pretty responsive to emails so i dont think it would take very long if it becomes necessary.

It doesn't say for sure, but on this page it looks like they could be UFS.

hihi.. if you are still looking for those turquoise frames, one of my local skate shops here in singapore has a last pair. they are salomon fsk 237mm UFS frames and come complete with 8 axles and 4 mounting screws. they are great frames, stiff and unyielding, and short so really manuverable. i know cos i bought their second-last pair to fit on my k2 soul 5s! :)
let me know if you are interested. the shop is selling them for about USD90 excluding shipping. i can pass you the shop contact if you like
google salomon fsk frames and you will see more pics of them on line. skates.com used to sell them but no longer have stock.
